Help us recycle everyday products and raise money for the school!
We have enrolled in Terra Cycle, a program that recycles products into new products, and helps organizations raise money. Please visit http://www.terracycle.net/
Mrs. Ortiz, mother of second grader Jadzia and Pre K 4 student Jonathan, has been very helpful in setting up the program, and is able to answer your questions. We are collecting Capri Sun juice pouches, Scotch tape dispensers and cores, Nabisco cookie wrappers (family size and individual snack wrappers), Clif Bar and Balance Bar wrappers, Malt-O-Meal cereal bags, tubes from Aveeno products, Malt-O-Meal cereal bags, Elmer's Glue, chip bags (small or large), Kashi products and wrappers from Scott brand or Huggies brand.
Collection baskets are on the first floor, between the bathrooms. The pink plastic basket is just for Capri Sun: please remove the straw and cut off the bottom of juice pouches so they are ready for shipping and all juice is drained. The other box can be for all other labels. The Environmental Club will sort and ship all labels when we have enough.
2008-2009 Accomplishments
The school put in ceiling fans-more efficient than air conditioning.
We switched to “green” cleaning products.
Environmental Club cleaned up the parking lot and playground twice.
We started a recycling program that will be expanded.
Sold stainless steel water bottles to replace many plastic water bottles.
