Summer Reading List
for Rising 4th Graders
Please choose a book from one of the following authors
· Andrew Clements
·Beverley Cleary
·Roald Dahl
· Judy Blume
After completing the book, please choose one of the projects below.
· Alternative Ending
Rewrite the last chapter of the book. What would you change? Think about the main character, use evidence from the book to create your own ending.
·Comic Strip
Choose your favorite part in the book and create a comic strip.
·Book Jacket
Become the illustrator for your chosen book. Design a new cover for your book.
·Create a singing commercial
Using a ‘well known’ nursery rhyme. Create a commercial to the tune of your nursery rhyme. Your commercial should encourage your friends to read your chosen book.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Five 2-pocket folders
Six spiral notebooks
1 pack of loose, leaf paper 24 count crayons
10 count washable markers
10 WOODEN pencils
1 pencil case
3 glue sticks
Two 4 ounce bottles of glue or one 8 oz.
1 ruler (metric and standard)
1 eraser
1 pair of scissors
1 box of Kleenex
1 container of disinfecting wipes (Boys Only)
1 bottle of Hand sanitizer (Girls Only)
1 Spanish-English/English-Spanish Dictionary
For Art: a roll/scan of any color/size yarn and 1 roll of paper towels.
*All supplies are needed the first day of school. If possible, most of the supplies should be labeled with the child’s name.
